Bulky Book Paper is an uncoated mechanical high-bulk paper for books with a bluish or creamy shade which delivers great print performance and distribution savings for high-volume print runs & makes a great choice, especially for books without color graphics.
So considering its high bulk characteristic, you can achieve the impression of a thicker, stiffer paper but with the same weight as a standard paper. The extra bulk enhances the reader’s perceived value and enables you to lower postal and production costs without sacrificing the quality. lastly don’t forget that this paper is recyclable and made from wood procured from sustainably managed sources.

Light-weight coated paper (LWC) grades have lower coat weights, grammage and pigment content than the standard ones & comes in matt or gloss finish, several brightness levels and many basic weights. This kind of paper generally used for magazines, catalogues, supplements, flyers & etc.

Folding Box Board is a multi-layered board which is made of virgin fibers with specific fiber compositions for the various layers in order to optimize the board’s performance for the use of book covers, greeting cards, packaging of food, cosmetics, chocolate, pharmaceuticals & etc. The outer layers consist of bleached chemical sulphate pulp and the middle layers of mechanically separated fibers (RMP-pulp). Fibers for the different layers are treated in different ways to tailor the paperboard construction to the intended use. The outer layers of sulphate pulp with its application of a double coating provide the foundation for a smooth surface & the middle layers consisting of mechanical pulp provides high bulk and stiffness.

What is fire clay and where to get it in nature?

All refractory are based on fire clay, what it contains, alumina and silica. In fact all high heat resistant firebricks are made of fire clay. Like heat resistant mortars, insulation, pottery, ceramics, ceramic blankets or ceramic tiles on space shuttle, origins of these start from the fire clay, its melting starts at 1600 Celsius °C or 2912 Fahrenheit °F point. Only special manufacturing technologies of those expensive materials change their properties and usage applications.

Fire clay is a normal mud, simple as that, but a mud with higher Alumina (AL) content. Has usually whiter-lighter color. Whitish to yellowish, pinkish, light brownish. It’s also cheap as mud. Refractory or pottery suppliers sell it. Even if it comes in dry powdered form in bags, fire clay is still very heavy .You only need one bag per dome if you buy the clay in dry powdered form. Commonly Alumina content of fire clay ranges between 24% – 34% Al and Silica from 50% to 60 percent .

In mass sense, even when in a dry powdered form with density of 1.303 gram/cm3 or correspondingly 0.753 ounce/cu-in, fire clay is still a heavy product; when compared with cement for instance.

Ivory Boards are placed in the category of solid bleached boards (SBB) which is made purely from bleached chemical pulp and usually has a mineral or synthetic pigment coated top surface in one or more layers (C1S) and often also a coating on the reverse side (C2S). It is a medium density board with high stiffness & good printing properties for graphical and packaging end uses and is perfectly white both inside and out. It can easily be cut, creased & hot foil stamped for packaging pharmaceutical & food products especially which are aroma and flavor sensitive such as chocolate, cigarettes and cosmetics.

Dead burned magnesia (DBM) is main raw material for basic refractory products and it is widely used for production of shaped and unshaped refractories. DBM is a widely used refractory material. DB Magnesia is able to withstand high temperatures and therefore is highly recommended for EAF's.DBM is produced in a vertical shaft by sintering raw magnesite at a controlled high temperature.

It is chemically inactive and extremely heat resistant. It is the main raw material for manufacturing basic refractories including gunning masses, ramming masses, for tundish linings and in hot fettling as fettling mass. Dead Burned Magnesite can be supplied in lump for end users to crush and grade or in ready sized form.

Dead Burnt Magnesite is produced in the Rotary Kiln by sintering raw magnesite at a controlled temperature of 1750 degree centigrade and its chemically inactive. Dead Burnt Magnesite is consume almost exclusively in the production of Refractory Field.

This products are used in:

  • Refractory Industry for manufacture of Basic Refractory Bricks
  • Manufacture of Ramming Mass composition, Fettling material and Magnesite Mortar
  • It is used in SLAG beneficialness and in SLAG splashing in Arc Furnaces
  • It is also used as a coating material in Steel Industry.

Duplex board consists of two layers & mostly made from waste paper pulp with a white and smooth surface coating which makes it ideally suit to be printed. It is produced in both gray-back & white-back shades & used for packaging purposes such as tissue paper boxes, toothpaste boxes, Detergent boxes, clothing boxes, Toy Boxes & etc.

Mortar is a mixture of sand and cements that is most often used to build brick or block walls. In my July blog on cement and concrete I dealt exclusively with portland cement products and uses. I also promised that at a later date I would talk about the masonry world. For those of you on the edge of your seats since then, well today is your lucky day.

What is the difference between mortar and cement?

While portland cement concrete is certainly one of the most widely used building product in the world, masonry mortar is close behind. It is doubtful that through brute force. Mortar is also designed to be durable but achieves its goal through finesse. Its strengths are quite low compared with concrete and it is never used in thick applications. It is much creamier and more workable than concrete. If you play tennis, think of concrete as your most powerful serve when you are trying to smash the ball into or through your opponent so that they can’t return the serve. Then think of mortar as a very gently placed lob close to the net that gets your opponent leaning the wrong way with no chance of returning the ball. Both achieve the desired result of earning you a point. The point of this long winded analogy is to let you know that using concrete and mortar interchangeably will lead to disaster.

Coated papers include an extra layer of coating in order to achieve certain qualities such as extra gloss, durability, tear-resistance or smoothness & are very popular pick for end uses such as color printing, image printing, magazines, brochures, book covers, flyers, announcements and promotional materials. It is produced in there categories including glossy, silk & matte in which the shine of coating would be reduced.
